Palace Hotel / San Francisco, Ca
Breakfast at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco is quite an experience. This historic hotel is classic old San Francisco, with a breathtaking grand entrance, sweeping marble floors, and a dramatic glass ceiling. While in town for my sister’s High School graduation, Mark and I stayed at the Palace Hotel and had breakfast at the Garden Court every morning.
Everything on the menu was exceptional, like the crab benedict, mushroom omelet, and pancakes with sweet pecan maple butter. However, there was one thing that caught our eye, and as adventurous foodies we had to try it! The green tea waffle with tempura battered chicken was so unique and absolutely fantastic! The jasmine green tea waffle is fluffy and flakey with a hint of jasmine as a sweet after taste. The chicken was juicy and meaty with a crispy tempura coating and dusted with powdered sugar. Using the popular chicken and waffle combo and adding a unique Asian twist was an out of the box idea that was absolutely delicious.
The one thing I wished we tried at the Garden Court was the breakfast buffet, which seems to be their signature item. My Mom would rave about the breakfast buffet and how as kids, she and my Aunt and Uncles would spend the morning there relaxing and eating at the Palace.
Unfortunately by the time Mark and I decided to finally try the breakfast buffet, they didn't have it that day! But luckily for us, we ended up ordering the green tea waffle with tempura battered chicken .. and I am pretty sure you can guess how that went. I can't wait to go back to the Palace Hotel!
